lengthwise in the dust again. Way down the Barkhor is the
Potala Palace. It is
nearly 1,312 ft (400m) long in an east-west direction and from north to south it
is 1,148 ft (350m) long. The thirteen-storied palace covers an area of

of the best quality silk materials and ready made products. A lot of lady
travelers find the silk factory visit one of the most important parts of a trip,
because they can purchase material to bring home. Last place to go today will be

Tongli
Tour |
Full Day Tour |
Pickup time in the morning will be scheduled at 09:00. Tongli, a typical
Chinese water town, is located by the Grand Canal 12 miles (20km) away from
Suzhou. It is more than 1,000 years old, well preserved also during the
catastrophic Sino-Japanese War. There are 5 lakes which surround the town from
the outside, just like a sleeping lotus lying on the water and wandering about
unhurriedly in the blue waves. Inside, the town is divided into seven small
islands by 15 small canals both vertically and horizontally. However the seven
small islands are connected by 45 bridges, so called a museum of ancient bridges
of different dynasties. The Garden of Quiet Meditation inside was originally
built in 11th year of
Qing Dynasty (1644-1911 AD)
(1885). Though its area is merely 0.3 hectares, all the buildings are positioned
so closely around the central pool that the pavilion, halls, corridors and
rockeries all seem to floating on water. The simple and elegant layout expresses
the philosophical idea of motion conceived under stillness. Lunch is included in
the tour.
